I've recently returned from a 5 day stay at The Gallipoli Houses and I have to report that I was extremely impressed with what Eric and Ozlem have done there. The location is superb -you are just west of Kemalyeri and within sight of Chunuk Bair in the village of Kocadere.
Anzac is about 10 - 15 minutes comfortable drive away and Suvla only a few minutes more; if you don't stop on the way. Helles takes a little longer but 30-40 minutes would be about the norm. This makes it a lot easier than staying in a Canakkale hotel and taking the ferry.… The food was superb. A mixture (or should one say fusion) of Western European and Turkish styles. It's a set menu, usually 4 or 5 courses, but dietary requirements can be coped with if sufficient warning is given. Breakfast reminded me of my stays at Varlet Farm; lots to choose from but again based on Continental style breakfasts with a Turkish twist.

hi Eric, Oslem, and all staff,

We arrived safely back in Western Australia last Friday morning. Took a couple of days to get used to the time difference again but seem to be ok now. I would like to thank you all for the wonderful time had at Gallipoli. It was a great education and one you would not get without actually visiting there. Thanks for all the advise, pick ups and drop offs at Gallipoli and for the early breakfasts we had. We really did appreciate the extra mile you went to look after us. I will be recommending to anyone who looks like traveling your way that they contact you.  I think you are on a definite winner with your business and you should look forward to many successful years there.  once again eric, thanks very much for your service, we really enjoyed it.

We would highly recommend our stay at Gallipoli Houses – Eric and Ozlem were delightful and attentive hosts who have excellent accommodation and food that was of the highest standard. We were given extremely helpful advice and they were genuinely interested in our personal reason for being there.
On our return journey from Çanakkale we spent a day in Istanbul – what a contrast!! However, Eric’s recommendation meant that we ended our holiday in a beautiful rooftop restaurant overlooking the Sea of Marmara

Dear Eric

We had a truly wonderful time staying with you, thank you very much! ...
... I would love to be able to help send some people to you as it really was the best trip I've ever done. I will certainly be sending you my parents at some point and some Australian friends also based in London who are keen to do the trip!

Hi Eric & Özlem,

Thank you again for looking after us so well. I know I  speak for more than myself, when I say the Gallipoli Houses is the best destination for a stay on the Peninsula -the confort, the food, the fun and the warmth of such caring hosts is worth telling the world.

Cheers,

Dear Eric and Ozlem

Well, we have just recently arrived back home after our extensive overseas jaunt, somewhat poorer but also a lot richer.
After staying with you in May we went on to Egypt, Suez Canal and Mena House, then to Germany to visit Marianne's family, up to the Western Front, France and Belgium, (Eric, the Belgian beer is even better than Efes) then on to the UK before going back to Germany.
We obviously saw and experienced a lot of different things but for me I must say the highlight was our stay at Gallipoli and I want to thank you for the contribution you made to that. Right from the start we were made to feel welcome and at home, and that continued for the duration of our stay. Thanks for your hospitality and your

I have attached a photo of the sun going down over Anzac, such a very special place to me, and to be able to be so close, with such warm people, in the midst of a village, well, it was more than superb. I even miss the call to prayer!
I have tried to do some of Ozlem’s recipes, but they are a poor second to her marvellous creations. I’d just better come back so she can show me again how she does it!
And please say Hello to the four-footed friends, I hope Princess is well and still perky.
A short stay, but one that will remain forever, a great and fond memory.

Cheers

Kim

I sit in my little house here, and go to work, wishing so much to be back there. An unreal dream, I suppose, but the hospitality shown by Ozlem, yourself, Ahmet, Soosy and Queeby, did more than make a holiday. It made a dream to experience Turkey – Gallipoli, a reality. With out your input, and your recommendations, our time there would have been so much poorer. With Kenan as our ever youthful guide, and Sheezdkin, our mother hen, we were looked after most royally,
Now, don’t you be giving up our terrace. I think we christened it, and it will always be a very fond part of my memory of your hotel.

Hi Eric,

How are things with you all over there. Have come home, printed all my photos & they are very good, am now writing my story. I am very glad that I made the decision to come and view the peninsula & my thoughts are of a complete hopelessness of what the soldiers had to endure & how very peaceful it now is. I must thank you again for your hospitality which was fantastic & hopefully we will meet again one day.
Cheers for now
Phil.

I just returned from Gallipoli and still overwhelmed with impressions and feelings. The best thing this time was definitely to meet Eric, better known as the "Plummed Goose" in the forum. He and his wife are running a lovely little hotel in Kocadere, which is the finest house on the peninsula. The open and warmhearted welcome, the immediately started discussions about the campaign but also the country, other guests coming together and sharing their view in the center of this historic ground was and is unique.

Hello Eric,

We got back to Dublin safe and sound although we were a few hours late due to delay of the incoming plane from London. We really enjoyed our few days in Gallipoli and we saw quite a bit on the last day before we headed up to Istanbul. Our stay at Gallipoli Houses was very pleasant. The friendly atmosphere, fine food and comfortable accommodation were all much appre-ciated as well as your suggestions and guidance on  visiting the sites. Our visit will help to give vivid images while reading about the various places and incidents of the campaign.
Please extend our kind regards to Ozlem and the staff. I will gladly recommend Gallipoli Houses when the opportunity arises.

Kind Regards
Martin

Eric and Ozlem (and all the staff)

Thanks once again for the absolutely wonderful time we had with you.   I learnt a great deal about 'Oi Oi birds' and 'flowerpot throwing' and Frev learnt an enormous amount about Raki. ...
... The week with you was one that fulfilled all our dreams and thanks to your kindness, friendship and generosity as hosts, the experience surpassed all our expectations. We all look forward to our next visit and hope to make it a regular event so prepare for more late nights on the terrace.

Good luck and thanks again,
