This memorial ... is dedicated to Captain Kemal Bey of the 2nd Division; Regimental Aide Lieutenant İsmail Efendi of Thessalonica; Sergeant Hüseyin, son of İbrahim from Kırşehir; Corporal Nasuh; Hüseyin, son of İbrahim from Kalecik; Abdurrahman, son of Mehmet from Inegöl; Sadik, son of Kadir from Ankara; S. Ali, son of Mikail of Konya; and İbrahim, son of Elvan from Çankırı (It should be noted that, until Turkey adopted the practice of having surnames in the 1920s, many people were identified by their forename and that of their father).
On the monument, there is an excerpt from the last order given by Captain Kemal Bey : ”Let’s all run to fall as martyrs, so the homeland will be saved”
