Second Lieutentant Mustafa's Grave

Initially a wounded soldier would end up in a field dressing station, which would administer first aid. From there the wounded would be taken to “waggon-stops collection points” (these were dressing stations set up by Medical Companies to be able to seperate the heavily wounded from the lightwounded, the latter being treated on the spot). From here, horse-driven waggons would take the badly wounded to Field Hospitals (for example Şahindere) for further medical care. If necessary –due to the severeness of the wounds- they would be transferred to Divisional Hospitals (for example Soğandere).  At Divisional Hospitals further medical care was given, which included performance of operations.  Nevertheless this was often not the final stop of a wounded because due to a constant lack of space many of these wounded had to be transported further afield to other hospitals in the region or even other parts of the country.
