Central Anzac sector. Spur extending seawards from the Second Ridge, adjoining
the northern edge of the 400 Plateau. Between it and 'The Razorback' (a spur
extending seaward from the 400 Plateau, opposite Johnston's Jolly) ran 'Bridges
Road.' The hill separates Shrapnel Valley from Bridge's Road. It is near the
north-eastern end of Braund's Hill that 4th Battalion Parade Ground cemetery is
located. Named after Lt-Colonel G. F. Braund, commander of the 2nd Battalion,
who was here shot and killed by one of his own sentries when
he failed to
to answer a challenge.
