At the entrance of
Lone Pine Cemetery stand an alleppo pine tree with below it a plaque.
The inscription on the plaque reads :
This Alleppo pine was planted on Anzac Day, 25th april 1990 by the national
president of the returned services league of Australia, Brigadier A.B. Garland
AM (RL) to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the start of the Gallipoli
Campaign of world war 1
