snipers' nest
the first authentic hotel on the Gallipoli peninsula
This website has been prepared by

Northern Anzac sector. Turkish position on a scrubby hill about 1000 metres
inland from the sea, half-way down a razor-backed ridge running off Baby 700,
from which snipers made the beach north of Ari Burnu unsafe for bathing or
traffic. Though shelled by warships and artillery and machine-gunned by the
Light Horse from Table Top, the position was held until the evacuation.

website of the late Jul Snelders, a true "Gallipolian".
